Black Trans Native Oregonian Activist, Advocate for Black Youth and Artist of Black Drag in Portland. She is also known as Thee VOCAL QUEEN of PDX.
This extraordinary soulful and sultry vocalist has sung the National Anthem at Portland State University for the Viking THORNS Basketball team, both men and female during Black History Month and
PRIDE celebrations.
Kourtni Capree Duv is also back by popular demand this year for the singing of both the Black National Anthem (Lift Every Voice) and the Star-Spangled Banner for the TIMBERS at PGE stadium.
In 2023 she opened up for the Pride Northwest Festival's North-Side Performing Artist Stage and gave an extraordinary performance that captivated the young and the old, the black and white, the gay and straight!
She is the producer of BrandNu Project and has been inviting vocalist to be a part of such a project that high lights the best VOCAL QUEENS in town and from afar!
As a former Darcelle XV Showgirl, Kourtni was given an opportunity to serenade patrons of the show who were celebrating their birthday. This added bonus to our show was requested of Kourtni Capree Duv by the late great Darcelle XV after singing happy birthday to her for her 80th birthday!
The first

Darcelle XV Showplace
just 10 years ago!
OMG!!! That means its our Anniversary!
It's rare to find anyone in the blues, jazz, soul, funk, or R&B genres who isn't familiar with her name. Arietta Ward, affectionately known as Mz. Etta, has become an integral part of Portland's vibrant and diverse music scene. . She began her musical journey alongside her beloved mother, the late pianist and esteemed Northwest legend, Janice Marie Scroggins.
Because of her diverse musical background and unparalleled versatility, Arietta has been a Featured Artist-At-Large at the 2023 Sawtooth Valley Gathering festival in Stanley, Idaho; a staple at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival for many years & as a bandleader, opened for the Iconic Macy Gray at the famed Elsinore Theatre in Salem Oregon.
She has shared the stage with acclaimed artists such as Esperanza Spalding, the late Obo Addy, Linda Hornbuckle, Curtis Salgado, Jarrod Lawson, Nigel Hall, Tony Ozier, Tyrone Hendrix, and Farnell Newton.
. "All of the music, all the songs... these are my stories. They’re stories that need to be told, and I am here to tell them.”
While many try to label her music within specific genres like Neo-Soul/Blues, Funk, or R&B, Arietta refuses to confine herself to any one category. Instead, she remains focused on the content and the profound responsibility she believes every artist carries. "Be mindful of how you deliver. Be mindful of your intent while conveying your messages. When you open your mouth, always hold that intent in the highest positive vibration possible.
With an ensemble of exceptional musicians or as a featured artist, Arietta is committed to spreading joy and happiness through unforgettable performances that leave a lasting impact on the hearts of her audience.
Her highly anticipated debut album, “Arietta”, captures her live performance persona as well as her studio self.
With high energy, humor and passion, the unique sound experience of Arietta Ward will surely have you wanting more.
